Ian Dunlop & This Frontier Needs Heroes
to
BlackLab Brewhouse & Kitchen Plaça Pau Vila 1, 08039 Barcelona

Ian Dunlop, the Godfather of alt-country and Americana music and known for his work with Gram Parsons, will perform in Barcelona with his current project, the International Submarine Band.
Dunlop has been in and out of the music industry for decades. Over the past fifteen years or so, he has immersed himself in songwriting, recording, and various musical projects in South Georgia, including in Parsons' childhood hometown: Waycross, Georgia. The town hosts an annual festival that attracts Parsons fans and Alternative Country musicians from across the U.S. and beyond. And in terms of music, Waycross is a world apart. Too far from Nashville to fall within its gravitational field, the town remains untouched by the industry's financial machinery. Instead, its musical sensibilities are deeply rooted in the authentic traditions of the South, where the music remains close to its roots.
And it's precisely there, in Waycross, that Ian met the second star of this concert: Brooklyn-born songwriter and musician Brad Lauretti. The double bill also features This Frontier Needs Heroes, the band fronted by Lauretti, who has previously opened for artists such as Scarlet Rivera — Bob Dylan's violinist and member of his Rolling Thunder Revue touring band — and Sarah Lee Guthrie, the granddaughter of Woody Guthrie. His song “South Dakota” was a finalist in the prestigious 2020 Chris Austin Songwriting Contest (MerleFest), further cementing his reputation as a songwriter. As for Lauretti's sound, he describes it as Southern Gothic Folk.
Don’t miss the chance to see these two unique Americana artists perform live.
