I Saw the TV Glow, Jane Schoenbrun (USA, 2024)
Set in the 1990s, I Saw the TV Glow follows Owen and Maddy, two teens who find solace in a mysterious late-night TV show that feels more relatable than the world around them. In the pale glow of the television, Owen's view of reality begins to crack. Disconnected from reality, the two teens' growing obsession with the series profoundly alters their lives in troubling ways that echo into adulthood.
Nominated for five Independent Spirit Awards and the Panorama Audience Award at the Berlinale, director Jane Schoenbrun—who previously captivated Americana audiences with We’re All Going to the World’s Fair—delivers a haunting exploration of alienation and obsession. With echoes of the Lynchian universe yet an unmistakable voice of its own, the film delves into themes of nostalgia and existential sadness through a mysterious, often mystifying lens. Without question, one of the year’s most striking indie films.
Film will be screened in original version with subtitles in Spanish.
