Film still from "Homegrown," directed by Michael Premo (USA, 2024).
Homegrown, Michael Premo (USA, 2024)
Michael Premo delivers one of the most intimate documentaries about the radicalized far right in the United States, offering an unfiltered and nonjudgmental perspective on the events unfolding before the camera. Premo daringly documents the Capitol attack from within the crowd of protesters. Leading up to the riots, he introduces us to three insurrectionists: Chris, a husband and father-to-be who justifies his involvement in extremist movements as a way to secure his child’s future; Thad, a father of four advocating for an alliance with the Black Lives Matter movement; and Randy, a veteran and leader of the Proud Boys in New York.
Through the stories of these three men, Homegrown reveals how extremist ideologies take root, showing how misinformation and social discontent isolate individuals, making them susceptible to radicalization. This compelling documentary provides vital insight into the challenges facing modern democracy.
Film will be screened in original version with subtitles in Spanish (March 14th) and Catalan (March 16th).
A film in the 2025 edition the Americana Film Festival.
