L’histoire de Souleymane, Boris Lojkine (France, 2024)
Souleymane is an immigrant of Guinean origin who has left his country in search of a better life. As he pedals through the streets of Paris as a food delivery man, Souleymane repeats his story. His fate hangs in the balance: in two days, he has to undergo an interview to request asylum, a key step in obtaining papers. But Souleymane is not ready.
Boris Lojkine’s film L’histoire de Souleymane won the Jury Prize and Best Actor in the Official Section Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival, the Fipresci Critics’ Prize and awards from the European Academy and the Gijón Film Festival. Based on the hard real life of Abou Sangaré, it captures the daily anguish of an immigrant in Paris and portrays this undocumented and invisible workforce that, in lands and cultures foreign to their own, keeps the machinery of our first world running.
Film will be screened in original version (French).
A film in the 2025 edition of the Brain Film Fest.
