Film still from "High Tide," directed by Marco Calvani (USA, 2024).
Lourenço, a Brazilian immigrant whose visa is about to expire, feels down and adrift when, unexpectedly, his American boyfriend leaves him alone in Provincetown with ethereal promises of returning. Immersed in the beauty and magic of the seaside community, he grows increasingly concerned as his once hopeful future has settled into a dark state of emotional and physical limbo. When he meets Maurice—a kind nurse on vacation with friends who also feels a little out of place—the two form an unexpected connection. Together, they begin to accept themselves as they struggle to resolve the uncertainties of their future. With an excellent cast and stunning visual effects, High Tide is not just Lourenço’s story: director Marco Calvani weaves a colorful web of queer lives intersecting on the beaches of one of North America’s premier gay destinations.
Film will be screened in original version with subtitles in Spanish and Catalan.
A film in the 2025 edition of Mostra FIRE!! Film Festival.
