Heka: Nothing Is What It Seems

“An illusionist is not a juggler; he is an actor playing the part of a magician; an artist whose fingers need to move more with dexterity than with speed.” —Jean-Eugène Robert-Houdin, The Secrets of Sleight of Hand and Magic, 1868.
Juggling and magic are like long-lost sisters. So similar, yet so different. Inspired by the intricate connection between the two, Heka, Egyptian goddess of magic, transports us to a hypnotic realm where reality intertwines with illusion. Heka transcends boundaries, inviting us on a journey where objects appear and disappear, levitate and transform before her eyes. But beneath the surface lies a tantalizing question: what is real and what is merely a trick of perception?
Infused with a fascinating blend of humor and philosophy, it marks a departure from the Gandinis' renowned repertoire. Director Sean Gandini, whose artistic journey began in Havana half a century ago, returns to his magical roots in this hybrid offering. A celebration of the absurd and the wacky in entertainment, a tribute to the pleasures of the absurd.
