The Symphonie Fantastique premiered in 1830, and it broke away from many of the musical conventions of the time. Today, it's still considered one of the most challenging symphonies to perform. Composer Hector Berlioz was inspired by his own emotional trauma, and by an unrequited love that that he was able to reflect in the score, which gives it its backbone as well as its originality.
The Turin-based Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI has been invited to inaugurate this very special tenth season at the Palau de la Música, under the baton of its principal conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada. And in a performance of Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 4 — the most virtuosic concerto of the five the composer wrote — the orchestra will be accompanied by Michael Barenboim, considered one of the greatest living violinists.
