Film still from "Hamnet," directed by Chloé Zhao (UK, 2025).
Agnes, an unusual young woman who seems to answer to no one and is capable of creating mysterious remedies from simple combinations of plants, is the talk of Stratford, a small town in England. When she meets a young Latin tutor just as extraordinary as her, she quickly realizes they are destined to start a family. But their marriage will be put to the test: first by their relatives, and later by an unexpected tragedy. An intimate and moving film that portrays the private life of William Shakespeare and the event that inspired one of his most famous works.
Film will be screened in original version with Spanish subtitles.
The evening begins at 20:45 with live music from The Stompers. They've been playing Irish music for the last 30 years in Catalunya, Spain and throughout Europe. Their concerts are an unforgettable evening of stories and songs, a journey back to Ireland a century ago, its houses and pubs, its people and its music.
A film in the 2026 edition of Sala Montjuïc.
