Grigory Sokolov
Russian pianist Grigory Sokolov is renowned for his poetic and imaginative interpretations of compositions. He has been playing the piano since the age of five and is respected for his dedication to the art and his deftness of touch.
He brings his skill to Barcelona's Palau de la Música Catalana, and though his performance programme is yet to be determined (it may include compositions by Schubert and Beethoven), it is likely to be an original and inspired concert.
Sokolov's illustrious career took off after he won first prize at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow at the age of 16. He boasts a wide repertoire, stretching from 12th-century music through to 20th-century composers. He is widely considered one of the world's greatest living pianists.
