Grec Festival Barcelona is the city's keenly anticipated annual festival of music, dance, circus and theater. It's a festival with a long tradition that forms part of the city's cultural landscape and connects fully with its artistic life. The Festival supports local production by showcasing some of the best creations of the collectives and artists that live in Barcelona, but it is also a window open to the world featuring some of the most interesting performers from other countries.
This year's edition focuses on Europe, taking us on a tour of German theatre, Dutch dance, English musicals, Portuguese fado, the universe of Fellini, Catalan singer-songwriters and French chanson. The program also features performances that take a look at classic works viewed from a contemporary perspective, including texts from the Spanish Golden Age, Ibsen, Molière, Shakespeare and Sappho together with music by Mahler or Mozart. In addition, there will be performances that encourage us to reflect on democracy, the environment, racism, fascism and other issues that are in forefront of public debate.
