Film still from "Goodbye Julia," directed by Mohamed Kordofani (Sudan, 2023).
Just before South Sudan's secession in 2011, a married former singer from the north of the country seeks redemption for causing the death of a southern man by hiring his wife as a maid. Although tensions rise and secrets threaten to come to light, the two women form an unlikely bond.
The first Sudanese film to be selected for Un Certain Regard, at the Cannes Film Festival, it's a powerful metaphor for the ethnic, religious and social tensions that divide the country.
Film will be screened in original version (Arabic) with subtitles in Catalan.
A film in the 2025 edition of Wallay! African Film Festival.
