The MASiMAS Festival 2026 presents one of its events most deeply rooted in the essence of African American music with Global Blues Guitar Mania, a project presented within the framework of the Global Music Foundation (GMF). The project was born as a celebration of blues and jazz from an open and contemporary perspective, bringing together on the stage of the Jamboree internationally acclaimed musicians who have helped keep this language alive through live performance and improvisation.
At the heart of the project is Agustí Mas, a key figure in the Barcelona blues scene and a leading voice of the genre in Europe, with a guitar style that connects tradition, emotion and a personal artistic voice. He is joined by David O’Rourke, an Irish guitarist closely linked to the American jazz scene since the 1980s, heir to the hard bop tradition and to an understanding of jazz rooted in dialogue and harmonic depth. Completing the guitar front line is Andrew Abboud, a young talent of just 15 years old who stands out for his remarkable musical maturity and a genuine connection to blues-rooted music.
The lineup is rounded out by a highly solid rhythmic and harmonic section—Hammond organ, bass, and drums—turning each piece into a space of constant musical communication. Special guest appearances by Carla Cook on vocals and Jocelyn Gould on guitar add nuance and texture, reinforcing the unique character of this proposal, conceived as a collective celebration of blues, soul-jazz, and the most authentic groove.
