FIRE!! aims to deal with diversity in a broad sense through a carefully curated selection of feature length films and documentaries. Organized by Casal Lambda de Barcelona since 1995, it was the first LGBT film festival in Spain.
For two weeks, several different locations in Barcelona (and sometimes elsewhere) host a wide range of the general public, inviting them to enjoy this cultural reference point in the city. The festival features stories and testimonies from different people, creators who break down barriers and people who fight for human rights and help, through love, to build a fairer and freer world.
FIRE!! is a tribute to the eponymous New York magazine of the late 1920s, run by the black gay writer Richard Bruce Nugent, and who is portrayed in one of the most famous films from the festival: Brother to Brother, which was shown several years ago.
As cinema screenings could not be held this past June due to restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mostra FIRE!! holds this year a special online edition from September 10 to 20 through the FILMIN platform. FIRE!! AT HOME will offer its audience a wide selection of films, comparable in volume to previous editions. The selection of premieres will be completed with a tribute to the Argentine director Marco Berger and a small retrospective to relive some of the best titles that have gone through the festival.
