Fira Modernista in Barcelona 2023
to
Carrer del Bruc Carrer del Bruc, Barcelona

First held in 2005, Barcelona's Fira Modernista returns every spring to offer a virtual leap into the modernist history of the city. Discover the daily lives of the residents and businesses of over a century ago. Go back to a time when the city blossomed under the artistic movement that forged its very landscape and made it the world capital of modernism.
Every year the city relives life as it was at the end of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries; for a few days it turns back the clock to the period when modernist artists still walked its streets and turned Barcelona into the beautiful city it is today.
The fair hosts talks, workshops, puppet shows, gegants, performances, antique cars, cultural itineraries and modernist artists and artisans to name a few. You'll also encounter groups dressed in period costumes of the time. Each year, the fair is dedicated to a specific modernist figure, work or event that represents an opportunity to showcase artists or aspects that are in some cases perhaps little known but have played a major role within modernism and have influenced culture and society. This year, the fair be dedicated to the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner (Barcelona, 1849-1923) to mark the celebration of Domènech i Montaner Year in 2023, which in turn commemorates the 100th anniversary of his death.
