El cinema és fantàstic

Filmoteca de Catalunya Plaça Salvador Seguí 1-9, 08001 Barcelona

Catalunya has a long history of film production, and many of the region’s most impactful film-makers have had a taste for the fantastical, from Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dalí to Rec (2007) horror maestros, Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza. This cultivation of horror and fantasy cinema is due, in large part, to the presence of one of the best and most dedicated genre film festivals in the world.
In celebration of the 50 years of the Sitges Film Festival, Filmoteca de Catalunya presents a special programme that analyses the history of the festival and how it has evolved.
Posters, programmes and souvenirs from past editions of the festival will be exhibited, as well as screenings of key films from throughout the festival’s history, including The Exorcist (1973), The Company of Wolves (1984) and Donnie Darko (2001).
