FILMETS began in 2001, at the 27th Badalona International Short Film and Video Festival, which was founded in 1969.
Since then it has become an important event and today is one of the short film festivals with the greatest presence at an international level, a meeting point between filmmakers and a loyal audience.
The festival program includes leading national and international short filmmakers. In 2012, FILMETS won the BISFF Prize for the best European short film festival.
