The GREC Festival is one of Catalunya's leading theater and arts festivals, with a long history of varied and top-notch performances. It takes its name from the main festival space, where the inaugural sessions are invariably held: The Grec Theater of Montjuïc, an amphitheater inaugurated at the 1929 Universal Exhibition.
This year mark’s the festival’s 44th edition, and its mission is twofold: to give support to local productions that showcase Catalan collectives and artists, and to be a window to the world which presents some of the most interesting proposals from other countries to the Barcelona audience.
Not only has the GREC Festival become one of the main cultural attractions of the summer in Barcelona, but it has also become a reference point in the European festival calendar.
