Poblenou is a neighborhood in the Sant Martí district with working class roots. For many years it was relatively far from the city center and, as a consequence, the neighborhood acquired its own character that is still very much alive today. Proof of this is the abundance of centuries-old societies and traditions that it maintains.

When the dates of the neighborhood’s main festival arrives, all these Poblenou entities are actively involved in the celebrations. Neighborhood associations create floats, parades, communal meals and organize concerts on the streets. The festival program is packed with art, dance and sports activities as well as the traditional correfoc (fire run), castells (human castles), gegants (giants) and fireworks display.
