Weideman’s latest exhibition showcases 40 of his most striking photographs from the early Eighties to the start of the 2000s. Shot from the artist’s unique vantage point as a taxi driver, the images depict New York City’s rich nightlife like never before. From businessmen to drag queens, prostitutes to poets, 'In My Taxi' acts as an equal-opportunity photo shoot, portraying the evolution of the big city’s style and spirit.
The Espronceda Center for Art and Culture is temporarily home to Weideman’s collection, in association with Bruce Silverstein Gallery, New York. For the first time in a decade, photos from the American artist are on display, including images developed in his makeshift apartment studio during the start of his career.
