The Centre d'Arts Santa Mònica spends the summer months this year focusing on contemporary Russian art, with a wide-scale exhibition covering its three floors.
'In complete disorder' is part-organised by the Kandinsky Prize (and the ArtChronika Cultural Foundation), and features over 50 of Russia's leading artists of today who have all been finalists for the prize in the five editions staged between 2007 (the year of the prize's creation) and 2012.
The ArtChronika Foundation is the organisation behind the cultural magazine Artchronika, which seeks to promote contemporary art in Russia. In turn, the Kandinsky Prize has sought to promote the work of Russian artists beyond the borders of their country and bring it to the attention of an international public and sector of critics.
The show hopes to reveal certain themes and motives that have had regular presence in recent Russian works, which can suggest the emergence of a national 'school' of art.
