Rita Mora Castro, a struggling attorney in Mexico City, leads the defense in a murder case involving the wife of a prominent media figure. Going against her own conscience, Rita proceeds to argue that the woman died by suicide. After winning the case, Rita receives an anonymous call with a mysterious but lucrative offer. Film will be screened in Spanish and English with Spanish subtitles.
The evening opens at 20:45 with live music from Ceiba. This quartet, formed in Barcelona, fuses jazz and Latin American music to take audiences on a journey through the different rhythms, melodies and lyrics from all over South America. Their repertoire includes works by various composers and in different genres, including tango, candombe, bambuco and bossa nova. All these tunes are performed in the key of jazz and given a modern touch by Adriana Ospina on vocals, Manu Contrera on piano, Martín Laportilla on bass and Juan Berbín on percussion.
A film in the 2025 edition of Sala Montjuïc. Doors open at 20:15, music begins at 20:45 and screenings begin at 22:00.
