Jamboree Jazz Club Plaça Reial 17, 08002 Barcelona
Eddie Henderson and Steve Davis are two authentic legends of hard bop who were part of the legendary Jazz Messengers led by drummer Art Blakey. Henderson (New York, 1940) received his first trumpet lesson from Louis Armstrong at the age of nine. Notably, his stepfather was a doctor who had patients such as Duke Ellington, John Coltrane and Miles Davis. He made his big leap onto the stage in the early 1970s, working with Herbie Hancock, Pharoah Sanders, Norman Connors and Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, as well as Elvin Jones, Johnny Griffin, Slide Hampton, McCoy Tyner, Benny Golson, Max Roach, Dexter Gordon, Roy Haynes, Joe Henderson, Pharoah Sanders and many more.
Steve Davis is known for his refined technique and warm, expressive sound. He has collaborated with many of the great figures of jazz, such as Art Blakey, Jackie McLean, Chick Corea and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra directed by Wynton Marsalis. Two historical figures interpreting the best of one of the most creative periods in jazz history.
A concert in the 2024 edition of the Mas i Mas Music Festival.
