Film still from "Dreamers" directed by Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor (UK, 2025).
After living in the UK without papers for two years, Isio, a Nigerian migrant, is arrested and sent to Hatchworth Deportation Centre. There she awaits a fair decision on her asylum application and is convinced that as long as she strictly follows the rules, she will be released, even though her charismatic roommate, Farah, tells her that this is a naive mistake. As Isio adjusts to life in the deportation centre, she falls in love with Farah and develops a close relationship with her new friends, Nana and Atefeh. When Isio’s asylum application is rejected, Farah suggests that they run away together to give their love a chance. Initially, Isio refuses. But when events beyond her control threaten the promise of a new life, she realises that she must start playing by her own rules. Freedom is elusive, but love is eternal.
Film will be screened in original version with subtitles in Spanish.
