Drap-Art 19
to
Museu Maritim Drassanes av., Barcelona

Drap-Art is a showcase of tendencies in art that uses objets trouvés and reject materials as a resource. It is a platform for the emerging sector of artists, designers and craftspeople from all over the world that use rubbish as raw materials; it is a forum for debate on urban theories and utopias. Drap-Art is a meeting place for specialists with an audience searching for alternative ways forward in a world heading for self-destruction. Our use and discard habits, acquired during the 20th century, have to be redirected towards the awareness that nothing ever disappears, everything is transformed.
Drap-Art 19 will convert the Maritime Museum of Barcelona into the center of Mediterranean culture. The festival features a host of activities including Mediterranean cuisine to share indigenous and local products, artists creating facilities to show that garbage can have a second life and, at the same time, denounce the social insecurity that causes immigration, live music to bring Mediterranean sounds closer to the city and workshops with activities for all audiences. The objective is to look at the social, ecological and environmental problems of the seas and the Mediterranean to achieve collective responses towards a more sustainable development. In addition, different projects and organizations will participate to inspire everyone to join the action for a more sustainable world!
