The versatility of the double wind quintet forms the backbone of this program that features some of the greatest exponents of Spanish music, such as Granados and Falla, alongside composers from the Americas, such as Piazzolla and Barber, and a more contemporary counterpart, the acclaimed Valencian composer Víctor Vallès.
A double wind quintet consists of a woodwind quintet and a brass quintet. Separately, the two ensembles will showcase their talents through the agile but also contemplative Summer Music and the intriguing suite from the opera Maria de Buenos Aires, while all ten musicians will come together on stage to perform excerpts from the first piece in Goyescas and the final dance from El sombrero de tres picos. They will also offer a selection from Llums & Colors, an original composition for this ensemble. The performance provides a glimpse into the diverse repertoire that this type of formation can handle, highlighted, as always, by truly exceptional performers.
