Dona Negra Canta is a project that celebrates the central role of African American women in shaping and spreading blues, jazz, R&B and soul throughout the first half of the twentieth century. Strong, empowered and fearless, these women rose above racism, sexism and hardship to make their voices heard—transforming pain into beauty and music into a declaration of freedom. Their legacy continues to inspire and resonate across generations. It's a night that pays tribute to the trailblazing voices who changed music—and history—forever.
