Based in Kansas City—a key city in the history of jazz—Deborah Brown developed an extensive career in Europe, where she combined teaching with performances on stages around the world. Her versatility has led her to share the stage with major figures such as Clark Terry, Horace Parlan, and Johnny Griffin, as well as to record in formats ranging from piano duos to full big band settings. Her influence as both a singer and educator is widely acknowledged. Vocalist JD Walter recently cited her as one of his mentors in an interview for All About Jazz, highlighting her direct impact on subsequent generations of singers.

At Jamboree, Brown appears alongside a top-level trio featuring Matyas Gayer on piano, Mark Hodgson on double bass, and Stephen Keogh on drums. The concert unfolds through musical rapport, space for improvisation, and a meticulous attention to the sung word, placing the voice at the center of an intimate dialogue with the rhythm section, true to the most genuine spirit of vocal jazz.
