Hailing from Yorkshire but with roots in South London, Deadletter channel the fury of The Fall and the unbalanced rhythms of LCD Soundsystem into a vehement strain of post-punk, exploring the darker side of existence through a lens of narrative-driven levity. The band members have been friends for years, so there’s an instinctive understanding between them of the danceability of their music that’s worth its weight in gold, without cheapening the nuance and grit of their sound. As BBC Radio 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq has said, “Next time someone says to me ‘why don’t young bands write about politics anymore,' I might as well play them Deadletter.” Incidentally, in 2021 one of their singles was “Tip Of The Week” on BBC Radio 1. In 2022 they released their debut EP, Heat!. And in 2023 they released “The Snitching Hour” and “Degenerate Inanimate.”
