D'A Film Festival 2023

Spring brings with it one of the most prestigious film festivals in Europe. The D’A Film Festival Barcelona is a cultural event that features an international outlook of the best contemporary auteur cinema, combining the discovery of new talents with established cinematographies. A cinema that, after standing out in the great festivals, stops at an event that celebrates cinephilia and puts in the foreground the creativity, personality and artistic freedom of its directors.
The extensive program includes Kirill Serebrennikov's biographical drama Tchaikovsky's Wife (2022, Russia) which chronicles the tumultuous relationship between Pyotr Tchaikovsky and his wife Antonina Miliukova, Paul Schrader's independent crime thriller Master Gardener (2022, USA), and Jamie Sisley's Stay Awake (2022, USA), a gut-wrenching drama of two brothers doing their best to navigate the pressures of teenage life while tending to their mother’s debilitating prescription drug addiction.
This year the festival also features a retrospective of British cult director Joanna Hogg, with screenings of The Souvenir, The Souvenir Part II, Exhibition, Unrelated, Caprice, Archipelago and The Eternal Daughter.
Participating venues include CCCB, Filmoteca de Catalunya, Zumzeig and Aribau Cinema. Most showings take place in original language with subtitles in either Catalan or Spanish, see the official website for details.
