The Cosmos Quartet opens the Petit Palau Cambra series with a program of high expressive intensity and transatlantic collaboration. Joined by Mexican flautist Alejandro Escuer—a leading figure in contemporary Latin American music—they perform two works full of contrasts and nuances: Exilios by Gabriela Ortiz, a vibrant piece on uprooting, and the refined Theme and Variations by Amy Beach. The program concludes with the celebrated quartet Death and the Maiden by Schubert, a masterpiece of chamber literature that challenges the cohesion and expressive power of any ensemble.
