What can we learn about sound from those who can’t hear it? The American sound artist Christine Sun Kim, deaf since birth, uses diverse media and formats to expose sound as a mark, as a ghost and as potential; an absence and a means to exercise a power over the world.
The Ensemble Contrechamps from Geneva, one of Europe’s historic instrument groups dedicated to new creation, presents is own unique tribute to Ludwig Van Beethoven by commissioning Sun Kim to devise a work that explores the limits of sound and music creation from a semantic and perceptual perspective.
Completing the programme will be Ludwig Van Beethoven’s Sonata for horn and piano and an instrumental work by the Swiss composer Jürg Frey, which complement ways of conceiving the presence of sound and invite acts of listening that are radically distinct.
Tickets at 7€.
