In music, a so-called "short mass" is an abridged form of a longer mass in which either the Credo is omitted, or several voices sing parts of the Gloria and the Credo at the same time in order to shorten their length.
However, Bach's so-called "‘short masses” — written between 1736 and 1739 in Leipzig — are short because they are are constructed only on the Kyrie and the Gloria. The Conductus Ensemble has selected two Bach’s four rarely-performed "short masses” to perform for the Torroella Festival.
