After the unexpected death of the Supreme Pontiff, Cardinal Lawrence is appointed to lead one of the most secretive and ancient rituals in the world: the selection of a new Pope. As the most powerful leaders of the Catholic Church gather in the halls of the Vatican, Lawrence finds himself caught up in a complex conspiracy while also uncovering a secret that could shake the very foundations of the Church. Film will be screened in English and subtitled in Spanish.
The evening opens at 20:45 with live music from Gwen Thomas, who grew up amid the vibrant singing of African churches. From a very young age he immersed himself in Gospel music, and his love for those soulful sounds determined the course of his artistic career. His powerful voice has seen him share the stage with legends like Stevie Wonder and performing before an icon like Quincy Jones. Gwen’s music is a mesmerizing fusion of African rhythms and jazz topped off by the unmistakable flavor of the Gospel sounds that so influenced him as a boy.
A film in the 2025 edition of Sala Montjuïc. Doors open at 20:15, music begins at 20:45 and screenings begin at 22:00.
