Colita. Antifémina
to
Disseny Hub Barcelona Plaça de les Glòries Catalanes 37, 08018 Barcelona
The exhibition Colita. Antifémina celebrates the significance of a project initiated in 1977 by photographer Isabel Steva Hernández, known as Colita, and writer Maria Aurèlia Capmany. Together, they created Antifémina, considered the first openly feminist graphic book of Spain’s Transition era.
Although the book was quickly withdrawn from the market, it became a critical and protest cult classic. Years later, Colita and Francesc Polop, director of her Archive and curator of the exhibition, revived the project, leading to its reissue in 2021 by Terranova and the Barcelona City Council.
The exhibition underscores the enduring relevance of the book’s critiques and reflections, highlighting the courage of two intellectuals who sought to dignify womanhood and openly champion feminism. The exhibition is co-organized by DHub, La Fábrica, and the Círculo de Bellas Artes.
