Circ Pistolet: Between the Heavens and the Earth

A celebration of circus at its purest, with an artistic style shaped by comedy, music, risk and physical precision.

After fifteen years in the circus world, Circ Pistolet began to imagine a large-scale production involving a large group of artists. They drew on the many creative relationships they had built over the years, bringing together former members of the company alongside new partners, in search of a community that would reconnect with the raw essence of risk. Because body, risk and community are the only ingredients needed for a performance that reminds us, in the company’s own words, that “between the earth that holds us and the heavens that call to us... the circus becomes body, gravity and shared trust.” Don’t expect a complex narrative, but rather a direct and immediate experience. Here, the company shows that circus can move audiences without any kind of artifice, and that perhaps the most modern, most contemporary approach to circus means returning to its essence.

Circ Pistolet was founded in August 2007 when Enric Petit and Rat Serra came together for their first production, Sobre Rodes. The company grew in 2011 with the arrival of Tomàs Cardús and then again in 2013 for the street show Cabaret Pistolet and the indoor production Incert (winner of the 2014 Zirkolika Award for Best Circus Show in Catalonia). In 2017, they premiered Quan no tocavem de peus a terra, a portrait of friendship told through circus and some fun with wood (winner of the 2017 Zirkolika Award for Best Circus Show). The production is still running and has now been performed more than two hundred times across Catalonia, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.

Performance will be in in Catalan, Spanish and Flemish. .
