Ten years ago Cinema Lliure a la Platja started screening independent films at Barcelona's Platga de Sant Sebastià; over the course of a decade it has expanded to several other beaches along the coast with film screenings this year in Barcelona, El Prat, Mataró, Palamós and Tossa de Mar. The festival screens movies that have appeared at film festivals here and abroad throughout the year. Before each feature film, a short film selected by FILMETS Badalona Film Festival will be shown.
In Barcelona, screenings will be held near the beach, on the esplanade next to the CEM La Mar Bella. Due to the health regulations, capacity is limited and prior reservation is required. Reservations in Barcelona will open approximately one week before each session, with updated information to be posted on the festival's website.
Keep in mind that food and chairs will not be provided, so make sure to pack something tasty and a blanket for a lovely beach picnic under the stars. You are encouraged to arrive early for a good seat closest to the screen!
Timing
Screenings will begin at sunset sometime between 21:30 and 22:00, which will vary depending on the date. You should plan to arrive early and enjoy a the music session as you settle into your place.
