Cinema Àrab i Mediterrani de Catalunya 2025
to
Cinema Àrab i Mediterrani de Catalunya was created in 2007 with the intention of breaking the stereotypes about what we call the "Arab World," a Western view of the East that hides and simplifies, without too much consideration, the realities that are much richer, more diverse and more complex than we think.
Brought to life by a collective of Lebanese filmmakers united by the desire to make cinema and spread it beyond its borders, the festival acts as a sounding board for the longings, concerns, contradictions and conflicts that cross the Mediterranean. Promoting cultural diversity through cinema, its program is made up of films directed or produced by filmmakers from Arab countries. With an eye on the latest news but always looking towards the deep roots that help us better understand how we have come to where we are today, the festival is complemented by various parallel activities and there is a featured guest country each year.
2025 Program
The 2025 edition includes nearly thirty feature films, including fiction, documentaries, classic cinema and animation, as well as talks and parallel activities. With a focus on Palestine and Syria, the festival also includes feature films and documentaries that bring us closer to different contexts of the Arab and African world, from political revolt to exile and daily survival. The productions, with the participation of multiple European countries and the Middle East, show the global interconnection of the processes of social change and the strength of individual narratives within these spaces.
Films will be screened in original version with subtitles in Catalan at several venues throughout the city: Filmoteca de Catalunya, Zumzeig, Lleialtat Santsenca, Arts Santa Mònica, the Sant Pau Library and La Calders bookstore.
