Born in Saint Louis (1968), Chris Cheek was educated at Berklee, where he studied under Herb Pomeroy and Hal Crook, and was a traveling companion of Jordi Rossy and a group of musicians—including Kurt Rosenwinkel, Mark Turner, Ben Monder and Steve Cardenas—who were also instrumental in revitalizing the jazz scene.
As a solo artist, he has released several albums, some of them with the Barcelona-based label Fresh Sound. In a quintet setting, he released the album Saturday Night (2015), featuring versatile Barcelona guitarist David Soler, Steve Cardenas and multi-instrumentalist Jordi Rossy. They will perform at the Jamboree, with the addition of another great exponent of the six-string instrument: Jaume Llombart. A combo of the highest caliber.
