The Viladrau Chestnut Fair has been held since 1995 with the aim of celebrating and commercializing local culture, nature and the humble but delicious chestnut of Viladrau and Montseny.
Until the middle of the 20th century, the Viladrau chestnut was the most valued chestnut sold in Catalonia. The famous castanyeres (chestnut roasters) of Barcelona only wanted to roast chestnuts from Viladrau. Whereas the Montseny chestnut, bright and bright in color, sweet and easy to cook, is harvested in controlled environmental conditions within the Montseny Natural Park. Both are highly prized today.
The Viladrau Chestnut Fair will surprise you with the uniqueness of its products, the burst of colors of the autumnal landscapes and the majesty of the hundred-year-old chestnut trees. The event includes gastronomic tastings, recreational and cultural activities for all ages, exhibitions, chestnut eating contests, music, workshops, stories and lots more activities for the whole family to enjoy.
