The union of Chano Domínguez and Mariola Membrives represents a natural encounter between two artists who share a passion for exploring and creating from common influences such as flamenco, jazz, folklore and song.
Chano Domínguez, an internationally acclaimed pianist from Cádiz, returns home after a decade in New York. With a career distinguished by his seamless fusion of jazz and flamenco, he has performed in formats ranging from trios to big bands, as well as solo piano. As a duo, he has collaborated with artists such as Martirio, Blas Córdoba, Marta Valdés, Niño Josele, Javier Colina and Stéfano Bollani, solidifying his status as an undisputed reference in the genre.
Mariola Membrives, on the other hand, has established herself as one of the most captivating voices on the current music scene. Trained as both an actress and a singer, she gained recognition with her album Llorona, in collaboration with Japanese bassist Masa Kamaguchi. She has also stood out in productions such as "FreeBach" by La Fura dels Baus and "Federico García" by Pep Tosar. Musically, her project Omega 20.16 offers a jazz reinterpretation of Enrique Morente’s legacy, notable for its originality. In addition, she has released personal works such as Lorca Spanish Songs (2019), La Babilonia (2022) and Ajuares (2024).
The duo made their debut at Barcelona’s Grec Amphitheater, being the opening act of the Mas i Mas Festival. Their repertoire brings together compositions by Thelonious Monk, Atahualpa Yupanqui, Marta Valdés, Victor Young and Violeta Parra, offering a unique experience that merges tradition with innovation.
