The Camerata Penedès, with Lorenza Borrani as concertmaster and director, presents a program that blends classical and contemporary music. The string orchestra performs Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 14, Op. 131, in an arrangement by the Greek pianist and conductor Dmitri Mitropoulos, mentor of the legendary Leonard Bernstein, who often programed it with the world’s leading orchestras. In this symphonic form, Beethoven’s quartet gains remarkable intensity and depth. The program also features the premiere of a new work by Raquel García-Tomás, commissioned by Camerata Penedès. García-Tomás, a Catalan composer and recipient of the 2024 National Music Prize, served as guest composer at the Palau during the 2024–25 season. Part of the Tardes al Palau cycle, the concert unites historical mastery and contemporary innovation.
Program
