Brighton 64
BRIGHTON 64 formed in Barcelona in the fall of 1981, when Albert Gil and Ricky Gil, brothers of actress Ariadna Gil, greatly influenced by the British mod scene they began to discover through albums and films, decided to join forces with several partners of studies and began rehearsing versions of The Who, The Jam, The Kinks and Chuck Berry. Quickly adopted by enthusiasts, especially Barcelona mods, they began to play in the city's halls such as the Boira Pub and the Cibeles Hall, culminating this first stage with its appearance in the TVE program “Musical Express” and a performance in Rock-Ola from Madrid.
Just a year after its formation, the group records its first album, the maxi-single Barcelona Blues, published in April 83 by the independent Flor and Nata Records. They present the album in the Zeleste room with a great full, evidencing that they have already become a benchmark of the powerful independent scene of Barcelona in the 80s. The following year they publish the single Stop touching my girl, and then they travel to Rome to perform at a festival and make their debut abroad.
