In this new season of Intocables, L’Auditori has invited four renowned international soloists to perform a chamber music program together. Yamen Saadi, Sara Ferrández and Pablo Ferrández already have a strong collaborative relationship with the OBC, while the young Eva Gevorgyan will be making her debut at L’Auditori in this concert. This impressive cast promises to offer one of the most memorable evenings of the season, with a repertoire centered on two icons of chamber music, Johannes Brahms and Ludwig van Beethoven.
The Piano Quartet No. 1 in G Minor, Op. 2 by Brahms, conceived between 1859 and 1861, is a work of great lyricism that is significantly influenced by the Hungarian folklore with which the composer was so well acquainted. It is a piece that dates from the composer’s youth, shaped by his friendship with Robert and Clara Schumann from 1853 onward.
The Piano Trio No. 7 in B-flat Major, Op. 97 by Beethoven is a tribute to Archduke Rudolf of Austria, protector and pupil of the composer. Due to the dedication at the top of the original score, the work is universally known as the “Archduke” Quartet. Although written in 1811, the trio was not premiered until 1814, by which time the composer was almost entirely deaf.
