Film still from "Bowie: The Final Act," directed by Jonathan Stiasnye (UK, 2025).
A meticulous, uncompromising look at David Bowie’s last great metamorphosis and his ability to reinvent himself in the face of adversity. The film does not shy away from the missteps, the commercial failure of his time with Tin Machine, or the critical pushback during the 1990s, revealing the most vulnerable and human side of the British icon. Through testimonies from his inner circle, unreleased archive footage, and his own words, it traces a long journey marked by milestones like his legendary performances at Glastonbury and the Hammersmith Odeon, as well as the period of silence preceding his final act: the creation of the album Blackstar—a farewell that turned his own mortality into a work of art. An audiovisual elegy that embraces the imperfections of an irreplaceable genius to make us fall in love with his legend all over again.
Film will be screened in its original version with subtitles in Spanish (Oct. 30) and Catalan (Nov. 8).
A film in the 2026 edition of the In-Edit International Music Documentary Film Festival.
