The music of Bilal Sayeed Oliver exudes an accessible personality, and a contagious energy for blending genres into one.
His talent was forged in the legendary Soulquarians collective — a group of great musicians who made their mark in the late ’90s. Born in Philadelphia 45 years ago, Bilal’s résumé includes a breathtaking list of collaborations, including Kendrick Lamar, Common, Erykah Badu, Solange Knowles, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Guru, Kimbra, J Dilla, Robert Glasper and The Roots. But it’s his albums of cosmic soul and otherworldly jazz that have truly built his legacy, from 1st Born Second (2001) to Adjust Brightness (2024).
