BCN PINHOLE PROJECT
The new exhibition by Barcelona photographer Isidre García Puntí is based around the theme of social and urban change in a city, captured through the technique of pinhole photography.
This method of early photography captures an image by projecting any outside objects through a small opening of a lensless camera and onto the back of a dark box where it is then recorded onto film. The patience and skill that this process requires and the resulting haunting effect enables García Puntí to capture a modern Barcelona whilst creating a documental reflection on the effect of time and the constant change of a city.
The photographs run alongside a series of texts by writer Pau Vidal, who also discusses the same themes albeit through a different medium.
The exhibition opening takes place on Tuesday 18th September at 7pm on the Espai Balcó of Arts Santa Mònica and runs until Saturday 29th September. A special event will also take place on Thursday 20th September at 6.45pm to discuss the exhibition and the changes to Barcelona, featuring the photographer and writer.
