Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC) Palau Nacional, Parc de Montjüic, 08038 Barcelona
Lesser known paintings by the 15th century artist Barolomé Bermejo will stand alongside some of his most famous works, as the MNAC takes an in depth look at the Spanish painter’s oeuvre. Bermejo worked throughout Spain during his life, including in Barcelona for a period, however his work bears a distinctive style as it incorporates northern European traditions and epic religious iconography into the Iberian Gothic style. The MNAC have brought together a wide selection of Bermejo’s paintings from museums around world, including the artist’s most famous work, the recently restored “Pietat Desplà”. And those who want to find out more about the fascinating process of restoration can do so by visiting the museum’s library.
