Take the challenge and run a very fast route through the city center! The Barcelona Half Marathon is now open for registrations.
Fitness fanatics are in for a treat this February as the city’s second largest running race returns. The 2019 edition of the eDreams Mitja Marató de Barcelona saw a record-breaking 19,300 competitors take on the 21-kilometre course. The race winner was Eric Kiptanui. The Kenyan runner, one of the best long-distance athletes of the moment, wrote his name in the gold medal book alongside other prestigious names such as Abel Kirui, Mule Wasihum or Eliud Kipchoge. In the women’s category, the great favorite, Ethiopian runner Roza Dereje, won with an excellent time (01:06:00), beating her personal best by one minute.
The route begins at Passeig de Pujades, and continues through Paral·lel, Gran Via, Diagonal, Selva de Mar, Port Olímpic and back round to Pujades, with the emblematic Arc de Triomf as the finishing point. In total, the race spans over 21 kilometers, and is the second longest street race in Barcelona, after the marathon. If you’re feeling fit, the half marathon is an excellent opportunity to put yourself to the test, physically and mentally, and at the same time combine exercise with an outdoor experience of the city.
