Barcelona Fringe Festival 2025
The Barcelona Fringe Returns This November for 10 Days of Laughter
After a successful debut in 2024, The Barcelona Fringe returns this November with 50% more shows than last year. The grass-roots arts festival is a celebration of the city’s exploding local comedy scene, which has been gaining fame in Europe and around the world.
Audiences can enjoy over 300 performances from a curated line-up of Barcelona-based talent, plus more performers who are flying in from across Europe and beyond. The festival’s motto "Quelcom per tothom" ("Something for everyone") reflects the variety of shows and experiences on offer. Audiences can enjoy everything from stand-up to improv, through to game shows, clowning and even a flea circus. Shows will be performed in English, Spanish and Catalan, as well as Italian, Russian and French.
Ticket prices vary between shows and venues. In order to make the festival as affordable and inclusive as possible, many of the shows will adopt the ‘pay what you can’ model, which enables people to reserve a ticket for free and then choose what amount to pay directly to the performer at the end.
The festival is a collaboration of over 10 venues and businesses and dozens of volunteers. This community forms the beating heart of the city’s comedy scene, which has been growing exponentially since the end of the pandemic and now rivals other European cities like Berlin and Amsterdam as a destination for the world’s top acts to perform. Barcelona was recently mentioned in the New York Times as one of the continent's most thriving comedy destinations.
John Allis, festival organizer and co-owner of The Comedy Clubhouse, said, “Last year we took a risk by starting our own festival, but the success of that pilot year has inspired us to go bigger and better for 2025. “The motto of the Festival is ‘Something for everyone.’ Not only because there’s so many different types of shows happening, but also it’s important for us to make our festival financially accessible for both the comedians and the general public, by keeping the costs down. We’re really excited to see so many fantastic shows happening and we invite Barcelona’s residents to come out and enjoy as many of them as possible.”
Gabriel Gomez, who is producing many of the Fringe’s Spanish language shows at Secrete Comedy Club, commented, “Usually the Spanish and Catalan comedy scene is quite separate from the English language one, although there are a few comedians who cross over. The Fringe is a great opportunity to bring us all together to collaborate in the spirit of culture, fun and laughter.
