When they learn that the famed elite cheerleading team Thunderhawks has openings, Riley and her mid-level girlfriend Amanda apply and get in. The extreme perfectionism imposed by their coach, Eileen, terrifies the newcomers, and Riley’s inner world begins to crumble like a failed cheerleading castle. Riley and Amanda’s days of innocence and queer bliss are tested by the rigors of this grueling practice and the dopamine rushes. With a high-voltage soundtrack, Backspot flips the gay cheerleading genre on its head under the direction of non-binary electronic music producer D. W. Waterson. Devery Jacobs, who plays Riley, is also Waterson’s partner and co-producer of the film, along with Elliot Page. With Jacobs' incredible performance, Backspot reaches our hearts with its physical intensity and a rawness rarely seen in queer sports cinema.

Film will be screened in original version with subtitles in Spanish and Catalan.
